Dear Dancers,

We are finally open for registration for Blue Ridge Scottish Dance School 2024! We have categories for residential and nonresidential dancers, night dancers, and non-dancers for both full week and partial week participation. Full week dancers check in on Sunday, July 7 from 3:00- 5:00 pm, partial week dancers check in on Wednesday, July 10 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Check-out is Saturday, July 13; however, you will have an option to extend your stay until Sunday morning if you wish to stay for the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games or visit areas in and around Boone.

The campus of Appalachian State is beautiful, the town of Boone is delightful with its many shops and restaurants, and the mountain views are spectacular!

We will be staying in Thunder Hill Residence Hall, built in 2020, with suite style rooms conveniently located next to our evening dancing venue, Grandview Ballroom. The suite consists of 2 bedrooms with 2 extra-long twin size beds sharing a bathroom. You will pay a lower rate if you share your bedroom and have 3- 4/suite. For $31/day more you can have a private bedroom and share the bath with one other person. If you will be driving a vehicle to campus please purchase an appropriate parking pass – full week, partial week, weekend only. All vehicles must display a valid parking pass.

The university no longer has an option to rent linens. Therefore, if you are driving to school you must bring sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels. BRSDS will provide linens for those arriving by air.

This year we are offering an early bird discount if you register by May 1. After May 1, the full week rate will increase by $75 and the partial week will go up $40. Your spot will be secured with a non-refundable $150 security deposit. You may pay tuition in full at time of registration or you may make payments. Registration will close on June 21.

We hope you won’t have to cancel, but if you do so before June 21, you will only lose the deposit. Unfortunately, after June 21 your full tuition will be forfeited. It is advisable for you to consider purchasing trip cancellation insurance. There are many sites such as insuremytrip.com where you may shop.

Returning dancers who purchased a reusable magnetic name tag should choose no name tag needed on the registration form. New participants may purchase a reusable one this year for $9.50 and will pay for it upon arrival at the school, or you may choose a free disposable name tag instead.
